Gurpreet Pahuja

Originally from India and having lived in Aotearoa New Zealand for over a decade, Gurpreet is an Occupational Therapist dedicated to equity, empowerment, and person-centred care. Guided by the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to understand their experiences and build meaningful lives, she brings creativity, compassion, and curiosity to her practice. She strives to support individuals in ways that are authentic, affirming, and transformative.

Gurpreet’s clinical experience spans hospital and specialist education settings, where she has supported children, young people, and adults with diverse physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional needs. She is deeply interested in interoception, sensory regulation, and trauma-informed approaches, and she works closely with families, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to create environments that enhance autonomy, confidence, and functional independence. Grounded in neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based principles, her work reflects a commitment to promoting dignity, agency, and holistic wellbeing.

In addition to her clinical practice, Gurpreet is undertaking a scoping review exploring interoception-based interventions that support emotional regulation in autistic children and adolescents. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and connecting with friends.
